Margo Lewers embraced the modernist spirit through her approach across multiple genres and media, and was one of the leading figures in the abstract expressionism scene during the 1950s and 60s. Her early compositions explored colour and geometric abstraction. Her practice became more fluid and expressionistic by the early 1960s.
