A JAPANESE ECHIZEN KATANA
EDO PERIOD (1615-1868), 18TH CENTURY

Quality blade with signature of Shinano Kami Nobuyoshi (Echizen), lacquer Koshirae (scabbard) and matching shibuichi fuchi and kashira fittings of scrolling grasses in inlaid silver, ray skin and wrapped hilt and sukashi (pierced) iron Tsuba.

The scabbard with losses and old restoration to the lacquer in places. Tsuba lose, the blade will evidence of extensive pitting, and probably resharpened and repolished. Probably replacement restrapping to handle.
