"Baldessin arrived in Paris from Brazil, in September 1975 staying until the opening of the Pompidou Centre in January 1977. During the eighteen month period, he attended the lithographic workshop of Lacourière and worked on three major series: the collaborative work with Imants Tillers, 'According to des Esseintes'; the charcoal drawings of Mary Magdalene, 'MM of Rue St Denis'; and a set of five coloured etchings, 'Paris Emblems'."


Another example of this print is held in the collection of the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra.
