Born in Denmark in 1898, Ami Zimmerdahl studied art in Copenhagen and London before moving to Australia in early 1920. Settling in Sydney, she worked as a fashion designer and a freelance artist for the Sydney Mail. Ami exhibited her artworks regularly with the Royal Art Society and Society for Women Painters, and is mentioned in numerous newspaper exhibition reviews during the 1920s and 1930s, acclaimed for her works on paper.
