The nostalgic imagery of British illustrator and author, Mabel Lucie Attwell, is instantly recognisable to many English households in the twentieth century. Studying at the Saint Martin's School of Art, Mabel rejected the traditional methods of artistry being taught in favour of fantasy and imagination. Featured in fairytale storybooks and magazines, Attwell's infamous cherubic figures were based on her own daughter.
