Lot 34
Circa 1960
The lightly-curved rectangular bevelled glass top on a hairpin-shaped framed raised on a pedestal of drawers to one side and a pair of splayed and cantilevered supports to the other, the pedestal with ribbed top and sides enclosing four drawers to its front and a shallow bookcase to the rear, the supports with a removeable mid-height slatted shelf, the angle of the pedestal relative to the top adjustable (the top pivoting on the pedestal)
74cm high, 184cm wide (with top and pedestal aligned straight), 83cm deep
Estimate $30,000 - $40,000
Generally very well presented. There is some dried brown material (dried liquid of some type) scattered across the lower part of one side of the pedestal and some surface dirt to the drawer fronts and pulls consistent with use.
The shelf to the rear side of the pedestal originally rested on movable brass pegs (for use at different levels) but small metal brackets have been added later, fixed at mid height, to support it. Four small rebates have been let into the edges of the shelf to accommodate the brackets.
