AN ANTIQUE SWISS EIGHT-AIR SIX-BELL MUSIC BOX WITH ‘MANDARIN' STRIKERS
Circa 1880

The 33cm lever-wound cylinder playing eight airs, with three automated Chinese 'Mandarin' figures each moving their heads and striking six bells, the movement with start/ stop and change/repeat controls, with a separate control to stop bells, the music box under an internal glass cover, in rosewood case, the top and front inlaid with floral and foliate centres, the original tune sheet pinned to the underside of the cover
