Lot 149

A FINE VICTORIAN PARCEL-GILT BURR WALNUT GAMES TABLE
1870s

The rectangular fold-over top (near square when extended) enclosing a leather-trimmed baize playing surface above the gilt metal-mounted frieze, raised on end standards of paired turned and fluted columns on outswept feet joined with a conforming stretcher, inlaid with contrasting fields and borders throughout
75cm high, 92cm wide, 48cm deep (95cm extended)

Estimate $1,000 - $1,500

Sold for $1,500

Generally very well presented, previously repolished with the gilt details refreshed, and with the green baize and its tooled leather border replaced, all of this remaining in good condition.

The hinged upper half of the top is bowed a little upwards across its centre line, creating a small gap at the sides between this and the lower half of the top when these are closed together.
