A LARGE AND FINE TIBETAN IRON AND SILVER - INLAID BRONZE SEATED FIGURE OF A LAMA, POSSIBLY 14TH CENTURY
The figure is seated in vajraparyankasana on a lotus pedestal with a beaded rim, the right hand in bhumisparshamudra and the left resting in dhyanamudra at the lap. The figure is clad in voluminous inner and outer robes falling in neat folds, with the collar, hems and "diamond" shaped decorations inlaid with silver and copper. The face bears a serene, benevolent expression. The figure is supported on a throne ornamented with addorsed lions.

A smaller example (19.5cm high) with similar robes, lotus base and throne, sold at Bonhams Hong Kong, 5 May 2025, lot 119. Also see anther similar Lama, offered at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 2 October 2017, lot 3107.
