The inscription on the base reads "Tianbao Banian Sanyue Sanri Guobo XX Shangfu Zao X xiang X Yi X"; translated as "On the third day of the third month in the eighth year of Tianbao (circa April 557), the monk Guo Bo commissioned the making of this Buddhist statue for his father."
