A CHINESE LARGE HIGH-FIRED WHITE-GLAZED CUP, SUI DYNASTY (581-618)
Fine high-fired white wares of this form were made at both the Xing kilns in Hebei and the Gongxian kilns in Henan. Closely related Sui dynasty cups were excavated at the Xing kiln site and published in Wenwu, 1987:9, pp. 4-5, figs. 6 and 10:4. Compare also a larger example (12.9 cm. diam.), sold at Christie's New York, The Falk Collection I, 21 September 2001, lot 10, and a pair of similar cups (12 cm. diam.) illustrated in The Charles B. Hoyt Collection Memorial Exhibition, 1952, p. 37, no. 142. Another comparable example was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 30 October 2025, lot 1019.

The cup is with a Japanese wood box.
