A SET OF THREE AUBUSSON TAPESTRY WINDOW PELMETS AND CHUTES
REQUILLART, ROUSSEL & CHOCQUEEL, 1864

Each representing a different fable by La Fontaine; the first depicting a scene of a male bird catcher, titled 'L'Oiseleur, L'Autour et L'Alouette'.
The second depicting a scene of a tortoise suspended on a stick between two ducks, titled 'La Tortue et les deux Canards'.
The third depicting a scene of jay birds clutching peacock feathers, titled 'La Geai pare des Plumes du Paon'.

John Edward Cornwallis Rous, 2nd Earl of Stradbroke (1794-1886).
These tapestry pelmets and chutes were supplied to the 2nd Earl of Stradbroke in 1864. They formed part of a much larger order that was made during the renovations at Henham Hall between 1863-1865.
