The stoneware incense container modelled in the form of a monkey mask resting on a drum, stamped to the base with the round seal mark for Kimura Toho. Together with tomobako (original signed wooden box).

The Kimura lineage is recognised as one of the six oldest and most important potting lineages of the Bizen kilns, the Kimura family having been recognised by Toyotomi Hideyoshi (1537-1598) in the Momoyama Period.
