The ewer is covered with a creamy-white glaze, the cover surmounted with a Buddhist lion, the body with a high looped handle and curved vertical spout, a raised band around the shoulder, the unglazed base chalky-white.
A smaller ewer (21cm high) with more simple decorations, see Christie's Hong Kong, 5/4/2016, lot 62. In addition, a similar ewer with a warming bowl, formerly from Okada Museum of Art, Japan, see Sotheby's Hong Kong, 4/9/2026, lot 2079.

In the Eye of the Beholder: The Raphy Star Collection (Lot 121 - 132)
The Raphy Star Collection reflects over four decades of dedicated collecting, guided by a profound appreciation for the artistic traditions and cultural histories of Asia. Since beginning his collecting journey in the mid-1970s, Raphy Star has assembled a carefully curated collection spanning Chinese ceramics, Chinese jades, Scholar's objects, Buddhist sculpture, Japanese lacquer, and contemporary Japanese ceramics. His pursuit has been shaped not only by an admiration for beauty and craftsmanship, but also by a deep respect for the cultures from which these works emerged.
Extensive travels throughout Asia, Europe, and North America brought Mr. Star into contact with some of the leading dealers, scholars, collectors, and galleries in the field, enriching both his collection and his understanding of Asian art. Over the years, the collection evolved into a reflection of a lifetime of learning, friendship, and discovery, with each object chosen for its artistic merit, historical significance, and emotional resonance. The Raphy Star Collection stands as a testament to a passionate and discerning collector whose enduring commitment to Asian art has resulted in an exceptional and deeply personal assemblage.
