A KANO SCHOOL SIX PANEL SCREEN OF CRANES IN A WINTER LANDSCAPE
The 19th century six panel screen by an anonymous Kano School artist in ink, colour, metallic flakes and gold leaf on paper. The screen depicting two cranes by a stream with bamboo and blossoms. Unsigned.

Estimate $500 - $1,000

Sold for $5,500

Three of the four corners are damaged with the paper peeling away - the top left, top right and bottom left. Each of the six panels have losses and repairs, including to sections of the painting and the gilt finish. Many areas of the gilt finish have been re-touched. To the rear of the panels are several knocks which don't appear to have pierced through to the front. The panels need work undertaken by a conservator to preserve and repair them.
