A Japanese Namikawa Yasuyuki cloisonne covered vase
Meiji period (1868-1912), signed Kyoto Namikawa

The spherical footed body with a small domed cover and floral finial displaying fine silver wire cloisonne to the exterior and with silver collar and foot, three tricoloured cartouches of seasonal blooms set within a dark indigo reserve with repeated chrysanthemums and brocade borders above and below, silver tablet incised Kyoto Namikawa to base, 7cm diameter.

Note: Namikawa Yasuyuki (1845-1927) a high status samurai, studied the art of cloisonne in Nagoya, the traditional centre for cloisonne production , later establishing his own studio and workshop in Kyoto, in practice (1872-1922).He is regarded as a leading artist from this golden era of Japanese cloisonne.
