A Japanese ivory okimono figural group
Meiji period (1868-1912), signed

The carved and stained scene depicting an elderly gentlemen walking with the aide of a staff and carrying on his back a heavy loaded basket of possessions, at his feet an elderly woman kneels and begs, all mounted upon an oval disc of ivory, incised signature to base and with further incised stamps, (some losses, cracks, restoration; staff detached), 22.5cm high.
