OTHER NOTES
James Hart, merchant, was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania in 1821. He married Rachel Hobensach in 1848. Hart joined the 1st N.J. Cavalry as a 2nd Lt. to Co. 'H' in 1861 was made 1st Lt. Co. 'M' in 1862 and then Capt. Co. 'A'. He saw action in all the cavalry battles of the Army of the Potomac. After being wounded by guerrillas near Piedmont in February 1864 he returned to duty and was promoted to Major in November. Hart was killed in action near Dinniddie Court House, VA , on 31 March, 1865.
