four brass uniform coat buttons, with eagle decoration and maker's markings 'Horstmann Philad.', old ID tag attached; a pocket copy of the New Testament, Carlton & Palmer, New York, with blue and red printed label inside cover 'Presented by the New York Bible Society, September, 1862' and stencil to flyleaf 'G.B. HALE, CO. A 53 REG., MASS. VOL. M.'; a copy of The Sabbath Hymn Book, Mason Brothers, Boston, with owner's stencil inside front cover, a housewife sewing kit; a 'W.H. Morely & Sons' straight razor in slipcase; and a small lead religious ornament; with research material on Hale including a biography and copies of his army and pension files (a lot)


OTHER NOTES
George B. Hale joined the 52nd Mass. Infantry as a Private on 9 September, 1862 and was discharged as a Corporal on 14 August, 1863. He died on 14 October, 1910 aged 84 years.
