OTHER NOTES
William Rogers was born in Bucks County, Pa. on 15 November 1833. He joined the 3rd Pa. Cav. as a Private Co 'B' on 23 July, 1861. He was made 2nd Lt. on 31 December, 1st Lt. on 1 August, 1862 and Capt. Co. 'L' on 1 May, 1863. He saw service at Yorktown, Williamsburg, Savage Station, Brandy Station Beverley Ford and Aldie, Va. Rogers was severely wounded at Gettysburg on 3 July, 1863 and was transferred as Capt. VRC 19th Regt. and made Assistance Inspector General of 2nd Cav. Div. He was made Brevet Major for Bravery USV in 1865 and Capt. U.S.A. in 1867 and stayed in the Regular Army with thhe 43rd, 14th & 9th Inf.. From 1864-1886 he served in Tennessee, Wyoming, Dakota and Nebraska fighting the Indians. He retired due to the effects of disease and wounds and died in Sad Diego, Ca. on 14 December, 1890, aged 58 years.
