OTHER NOTES
Dark Felt finished fourth in the 1942 Melbourne Cup and his good form continued the following year. He won races on the three Saturdays prior to the 1943 Melbourne Cup and won the race comfortably as 7/2 equal favourite.

Due to the prohibition of racing on a public holiday the 1943 Melbourne Cup was not held on a Tuesday, but on Saturday 13 November.
