OTHER NOTES

The first is written by Mr George Barfoot which refers to the painting as 'La Messa' and mentions that at the Paris Salon in 1876, [Adolphe] Goupil (of Goupil & Cie) was taken by this painting and offered Borsini 3,000frf, however the artist wanted 4,000. The second letter is written by Francesco Borsini and describes the painting as "the convent service in a Sunday in the Choir of S. Crisogono de la Trastevere in Rome. The holy men are the barefooted friars who minister at this church. This last picture was in the Paris Salon in 1876 and was presented by Mr Goupil."
