McLean Hunter's / BENEDICT / on the Prahran Course / Melbourne / 1853,' the body chased with an anthemeon and Classical mask frieze above a leaf tip border, flanked by angular handles, above a tapering stem with a leaf-cast skirt, raised on a circular foot, approximately 3265gms, 47cm high; together with a single door cedar and mahogany travelling case, (split to the body of the case near the top door hinge), 35.5 x 55 x 42cm

Hallmarked beneath the cover, to the ribbon on the wreath finial and to the side of the body
Inscription to cover and body clear
Heavy surface marks to the interior; solder repair to the lower body, approx 2cm wide x 3cm high, faintly visible from the outside
Cover fits well, although there is some unevenness to the edge, with various 'nicks' and also to the foot beneath the cover
Several small dents to the body in places, but overall good order
Tarnishing in places
The body sits slightly unevennly on the foot
Travelling case: very heavy dings, dents and deep scratches and wear overall; split to the front top right corner of the side has caused the top hinge of the door to come loose and a stabilising bracket has been placed inside
Dust, losses and heavy wear to the blue felt lined interior
