Lot 89
Central Australian Landscape
watercolour on paper
signed lower centre: Ewald Namatjira
*On View in Sydney
36 x 51cm
Estimate $400 - $600
This work has some visible discolouration, particularly visible in the blue sky where the colour is streaky. It could benefit from a surface clean.
There is significant mould on the mount and the inside of the glass (it looks to be on the paper at first glance, but when examined closely it appears to mainly be on the glass at this stage). The backing is also not secure and flat within the frame so the work itself is not flat. The frame itself it in good and stable condition with minor signs of wear consistent with age and use, but it would benefit from new backing and a new mount.
Please note that this work was not removed from the frame in order to conduct this condition report.
