AN ANTIQUE DIAMOND, SAPPHIRE AND RUBY INSECT BROOCH
The large insect having seven oval cut sapphires set to the body, with rose and old European cut diamonds set to the body, wings and legs, finished with ruby set eyes, all mounted gold.

With French marks. This piece also has a loop fitting so can be worn as a pendant. Brooch fitting can be unscrewed and removed from the piece. Some minor repair has been done to the front legs of the bug with evidence of solder to the underside. Stones are all well matched. Measures top andante to down 38.0mm from wing tip to wing tip 61.7mm. Total weight 23.53gms.
