A CHINESE WOVEN BAMBOO AND POLYCHROME LACQUER COVERED BOX, LATE MING TO EARLY QING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY

The lacquer box with quadrilobe shaped checker weave basketry panels of split bamboo, set into rectangular reserves, both the corners of the cover and base of the box with curved indentation in typical late Ming style, traces of polychrome lacquer decoration and gilding throughout (wear to the polychrome decoration and gilding, long cracks to the lacquer, small repairs), 11.5 x 46 x 24cm
