Lot 46

PADDY DHATANGU (1915-1993)
Wagilag Sisters
natural earth pigments on eucalyptus bark
inscribed verso with artist's name
76 x 43cm

Estimate $400 - $600

Sold for $500

The natural earth pigments are quite thickly applied on the bark and some paint loss has occurred over time, most noticeably along the lower edge of the bark. Some of the white pigment has smudged in certain areas too.

Hairline cracks are evident in the bark, consistent with its age.

The bark may benefit from a brace in the future to afford greater stability as it ages.
