The piece is not signed, it is accompanied by a card from the Kwangchow antique shop with a possible date and its original seal saying Red Jade. It is common for ancient artifactes in gems such as agate to be referred to as jade. With todays gemmological testing we can correctly identify the material in this case agate. Many museum and other important collections will still refer to the pieces as jade even though they are not from the nephrite or jadeite families.
