A TROPHY AWARDED TO CARLTON, CIRCA 1937
For winning third place in the herald football night community singing contest at Melbourne Town Hall, July 1937, conducted by Carlton's president Daved Crone, 29.7cm high (loss to bakelite base)
Provenance: belonging to Dave Crone, and hence by decent to its current owner.
Dave Crone was a VFL football player, having played a handful of games from 1915-1920, for both the Fitzroy and Carlton teams. During 1917-1920, Crone played total of 22 games, scoring a tally of 4 goals.
Crone however is best remembered for his time spent as the Carlton football club president from 1929-1937. Crone was also a Victorian selector for some years, most notably involved in the successful 1930 and 1933 Australian National Football Carnivals in Adelaide and Sydney.
