Sali Herman is perhaps best known for his depiction of inner-Sydney's slums and old Victorian terraces. His use of geometric block forms and contrast gave colour and monumentality to otherwise seemingly dull building facades. These scenes are 'quintessentially Herman', and have remained a popular subject matter amongst dealers and collectors of his work.
