Coombes, P., Elaine Haxton, Communication Programs Pty Ltd, Sydney, 1990, pp. 32-35.

In 1956, Elaine was the only woman member of an 11 person cultural delegation to spend 10 weeks in China, alongside Charles Bush and Douglas Annand to name a few. Elaine produced many sketches and drawings during this period, each observing her strong emotional connection to the culture rather than its current political climate.
