Vida Lahey exhibited extensively in Europe and Australia and is considered a major contributor to the introduction of Modernism in Australia.
Through her career, Lahey became increasingly drawn to still life and it was a theme she returned to regularly. It provided her the opportunity to explore composition, texture, form and her love of colour.
By the mid-1920s she was highly regarded amongst Australian women artists and was admired for her bold and proficient use of light and colour.
