James, Rodney, "Bali high: intoxicated by the image of an enchanted isle", The Australian, September 17 2005
"In 1925, Australian modernist painter and printmaker Margaret Preston travelled to Bali as part of a three-month tour of Southeast Asia. Preston visited each country by a luxurious steamer — indicative of her relative financial independence. Along with Preston, Sydney-based artist Mary Edwards (Edwell-Burke) and Melbourne companions Guelda Pyke and Yvonne Cohen recorded their impressions of Bali and published travelogues in the mainstream press. These first-hand accounts inspired other Australian artists to follow in their footsteps"
