The overall condition of this tiara is very good. All stones are secure in their settings and have been fitted with a screw mechanism. ther si movement in some of the fittings, especially the middle three. The coral is in fine condition nd show typical inclusions and blemishes, they are nicely matched and show no evidence of being dyed. The gold body of the tiara is in overall good condition with applied gold-work also in good condition. There is a minor dent to the top of the tiara (at 1 o'clock) above the third coral on the left. this does not distract the eye & can be seen better from the back. Given the age of this item, it has had little use. Acid tests as 18ct gold.
Reputed to be once owned by the Empress Eugenie.
The current owner was in the process of doing research on this item with similar pieces he had seen over his many years of trading. whist not conclusive, it is believed that the tiara, along with other matching pieces formed a suite once owned by the empress Eugenie.
