Lot 111A
(The poultry sellers)
oil on panel
44 x 32cm
Estimate $5,000 - $7,000
The work has been heavily varnished, possibly as a way of stablising the paint although it has given the painting a glossy finish. There are crack lines visible beneath the varnish.
There are very minor losses of pigment, some which appear to have been inpainted. Please note this work has not been inspected under UV light.
The work is housed in an ornate frame, with "Metzu" and the title inscribed on a plaque attached. There are some losses to the frame, and cracks that have made pieces unstable.
