Margaret Fisher-Prout was a painter of flowers, landscapes and figures in an Impressionist style and helped to improve perceptions of modern art in Britain. She was an active member of multiple societies and clubs that helped support and promote the work of women, including the Society of Women Artists and the Women's International Art Club. Prout often employed unconventional techniques in her artworks, for example making studies in oil before completing a final watercolour, she would use certain colours and pigments in unusual ways and sometimes poured water over a work to achieve her desired result.
