THANJAVUR, LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY
Depicting Krishna in his childhood form, naked and adorned with jewellery and a peacock crown, holding a lota filled with butterballs, being worshipped by three gopis. Painted on canvas finished with gilt raised gesso work and glass jewels, framed and glazed.

Losses to the raised gesso work and gilding, particularly to the left hand side and lower left part of the lower design register. Small losses to the jewel/mirror work. Small damages and losses in parts to the painting, possibly through moisture. Some light staining and cracking to the painted gesso work. Some wear to the old wooden frame.
