Lot 360

A CHINESE ROOTWOOD FIGURE
19TH CENTURY

Carved from dense hardwood burl, the rootwood formations suggesting flowing robes, with a minimally carved natural protuberance behind the figure suggesting a qilin.
39.5cm high, 25cm total width, approximately 11cm deep

Estimate $800 - $1,200

Unsold

Small losses, cracks, old non-active worm damage to part, the top of the figure's head possibly with some loss. There is a hole where at one point there might have been a staff inserted.
