A RARE SOUTHERN CHINESE MAONAN WEDDING BLANKET, NORTHERN GUANGXI ZHUANG PROVINCE
LATE 19TH CENTURY

A very rare and fine dowry blanket, comprising two joined long rectangular panels of silk and cotton woven cloth, inset into a black and pale indoigo cotton surround, the joined panels decorated with repeating patterns of stylised flowers in vegetal coloured silks against a brick red and bright yellow ground.
