Plante moved to Darebin Bridge House, Ivanhoe in 1935 with two other female artists, and William Frater, the man who introduced her to the paintings of Cézanne, Van Gogh and Post-Impressionism, often painted there. Ada was shy and intensely private, and although she exhibited extensively throughout her life, attracting recognition as a student and young artist, her work remained relatively unknown.
