Lot 88

A SOUTH INDIAN TRIBAL BRONZE FIGURE OF A MAN
16TH CENTURY OR EARLIER

The male figure standing facing front-on, with a top-knot of hair, pierced ears, wearing a dhoti, and holding both hands aloft bent at the elbows, the hands with holes indicating that the figure once held something, with a pleasant verdigris patina. On a fitted black wooden base.
The figure 26cm high, 8.5cm wide.

Estimate $1,000 - $2,000

Unsold

The hands possibly missing what they originally held, a small loss to the bronze at the rear of the head, partial loss to both the front and back of the base, various small dents and losses, verdigris oxidisation to the entire piece.
