Black lacquer panel with ornate carving and inlay. A striking interpretation and design of birds amongst Nandina and Wisteria whilst sitting on an old iron lantern in various shell and lacquer. Unsigned.

Losses to mother of pearly decoration including to the lowest bird's wing, face and neck, the uppermost bird's underside and front of leg, losses to four of the wisteria flowers, some cracking to the hanging lantern. Some small chips to the edges of the lacquer panel, and some light scratching. Unmounted.
