KATHERINE HATTAM (born 1950)
Vibrant Traffic
mixed media on paper
signed lower centre: HATTAM.
151.5 x 102cm

Estimate $1,800 - $2,800

Unsold

Katherine Hattam's work encompasses themes of feminism, domesticity, time, autobiography and psychoanalysis. Her works combine a dual representation of the public and private spheres; they are locations for the intersection of memory, space and autobiography, littered with the objects and influences that have shaped her. Hattam, both through her practice and role as a female artist, discusses the difficulties of becoming an artist, the challenges of balancing a full-time and absorbing practice with the commitments of family, and her worry that visual arts will be the last obstacle for gender and age equality in Australia.
