Ross, G., "A Sullen Silence. Frank Weitzel, Modernist (1905-1932), Art New Zealand, www.art-newzealand.com/Issue116/weitzel.htm (illus. another edition)
Cafe c.1930, ed.2/50 (another edition) in the Collection of National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, 1978
This linocut was created in a period when Weitzel was inspired by Claude Flight to create multiple block prints. The linocut was likely featured in either the 1930 and 1931 exhibitions of British Linocuts organised by Flight at the Redfern Gallery. " Writing to Dorrit Black, Flight enthused 'I am very pleased to have Mr Weitzel's work for the show. I like it very much, it is original, strong, good of its kind & just the sort of work we want' .(1)"
