AN ANGLO-CEYLONESE CARVED EBONY GENTLEMAN'S CHAIR
CIRCA 1840

The whole heavily carved, the back and front rails featuring flowers and foliage emanating from a central shell, the arms beginning with foliate motifs and terminating with scrolls and leaves, raised on turned front legs with carved acanthus leaves, and splayed back legs
98cm high, 70cm wide, 80cm deep

The seat has collapsed and the upholstery stained and faded in places, the uooer right hand corner of the upholstered back is fractured, the back right hand leg has a loss to the base, there are repairs to the joins between both arms and stiles, losses to the lacquer throughout. There is a fracture to the left hand legs and repairs to the right hand leg
