A RARE 18TH CENTURY EBONISED BRACKET CLOCK WITH CARILLON AND BIRD AUTOMATON
Made by John Henry Borrell (1757-1840). The ebonised wood case with ornamental brass inlays, gilt applications and enamel dial. The case in the shape of a neo-Gothic arch. Beneath the dial is a double-door engraved with bird motif. Behind this a moveable bird. 8-day quarter striking three train fusee movement.
Engraved back plate signed 'J.H. Borrell, London'. This clock was probably made for the Chinese market. John Henry Borrell was a Huguenot Swiss clockmaker living in London since 1805.

The case is in good condition with no visible signs of repair, damage or losses. The movement and the automation are in working order but has not been tested for time.
