Lot 41
Death of Constable Scanlon
offset lithograph 7/30
signed and numbered below image
47 x 64cm
Estimate $1,000 - $2,000
Creases in the paper prior to its current framing have left pigment loss lines in various areas (for example in the head of Kelly below the left eye). There is a puncture to the paper upper centre above the tree trunk, approx 7mm in width.

In a sudden, violent accident time seems to stand still. I have exaggerated; the bridle must have been long, but that and the levitated horse and constable increase the unreality of violent events. Kelly seems to be present only as a force of destiny
