A JAPANESE FUKAGAWA KORANSHA STUDIO DOUBLE GOURD VASE
MEIJI PERIOD (1868-1912), CIRCA 1880s

The porcelain studio vase of double gourd form, decorated with bamboo leaves against a bright yellow ground with banded decoration around the mouth and footrims and around the centre of the gourd shape. Three character iron-red mark to the base 'Fukagawa Sei' beneath the Koransha scented orchid mark.
22cm high, 9.5cm diameter

The combination of the Fukagawa mark and the Koransha scented orchid mark dates this accurately to between 1879 and 1894.
