MEIJI PERIOD (1868-1912), CIRCA 1880s
The ovoid stoneware vase covered in a crackled straw-coloured glaze, decorated with trees, flowers, birds and insects in overglaze enamels and gilding. Two ears/handles to the shoulder in the form of curled leaves. Four-character mark 'Satsuma Kinunzan' or 'Satsuma Nishiki Unzan' in iron red to the base.
14cm high, 12cm diameter
Estimate $200 - $400
Some minor wear to the gilding, and a few small firing cracks to the foot rim.
