Lot 15
Of elegant proportions, the top with swan pediment and fluted columns capped in gilt brass, with an elaborately engraved and embossed gilt brass face in rococo motifs and signed by the maker 'R Jackson Hexham'. The case in mahogany veneered on pine and crossbanded in rosewood with ebony and satinwood stringing and inlaid walnut details.
England, circa 1750.
Height 209cm
Estimate $1,500 - $2,500
There are some minor losses to the black enamel of the Roman numerals on the dial. The main door of the case has been adapted to a panel with a central locking system. There's a split in the veneer to the base of the case and some veneer losses consistent with age. Overall patina is good. Complete with weight pendulums, winder and panel key. Movement appears to be working but has not been tested for time.
